We're hoping to utilize Symantec Messaging Gateway more frequently at our locations. Some of our locations are runining Hyper-V, so we typically install SMG on a virtual machine. This works well.
However, in some cases a location may not be Hyper-V equipped. To keep costs low we were hoping to install SMG on an Intel NUC or similar form factor hardware.
I am testing on an Intel NUC DN2820FYK here. I've tried burning the SMG ISO to disc and installing from a USB-attached optical drive, but I get an error early in the installtion indicating:
Unable to download the kickstart file. Please modify the kickstart parameter below or press Cancel to proceed as an interactive installation.
It then prompts for a path beginning with cdrom:. At this point I cannot seem to do anything - keyboard does not work, and I'm not sure what I'd do if it did anyway. I tried booting to the ISO via a bootable USB thumb drive but the same error occurs.
I'm not sure why the keyboard does not work at this point, but I believe the real issue is that since the system is booting from a USB device (optical or thumb drive) the installation script does not know where to look for the kickstart file.
Unfortunately the NUC does not have a spare SATA port for me to hook up an optical drive directly so I feel I'm stuck. It's too bad because I believe the Intel NUC and SMG would have been a perfect match for us.
Has anyone seen this before? Any way around it?
Thanks
