content fies getting large

I've read many of the acticles on why the INETPUB\Content direcctory gets so big but recently the size of the individual files has grown rapidly.  Today it grrew by two files that were 5GB each.  Is this normal size now.  I went through some my old backups and the files in these directories seemed to be much smaller
